As a Personal Trainer in Toronto, I’ve noticed that one of the main problems that people constantly complain of, regardless of age, gender, or profession, is that there just aren’t enough hours in the day. And unfortunately, one of the first things to go when people are feeling crunched for time is time for themselves. But neglecting your own needs in favor of extra hours at work can have terrible consequences on your stress levels and even your fitness. Take my advice and show the person in the mirror a little kindness this month with the following tips.
Pamper Yourself: Now that winter has been around for a few months, your body may be suffering: dry skin, chapped lips, windburn, cracked heels… sound familiar? Indulge yourself by going to a spa if you can. If that isn’t exactly within your budget, try some at-home treatments, like an oatmeal bath or a rich lotion. It’ll feel just as good.
Go Out: I’ve noticed that my clients with rich social lives tend to be more confident. Do yourself a favor and call up that friend that you haven’t seen in a while. A night out on the town with a pal will break up the monotony and remind you how many people you have in your life who care about you.
Do Something Relaxing: When is the last time you read a book just for fun? People these days are so overexerted that they often forget to take time out for themselves. Mark off a few hours on your calendar for some quality ‘me’ time and do something you have been putting off for ages, whether it’s watching an old movie or going for a walk.
Get Yourself Something Nice: Instead of splurging on others or pinching every penny and neglecting your guilty pleasures, extend your generosity to yourself for a change. Have you been eying a pair of boots or the new iPod model for months? Just do it and thank yourself for the gift!
Try a New Workout: I’m not just saying this because I am a Toronto Personal Trainer. Working out releases endorphins, gives you more energy, boosts your health, and makes you look better in a bathing suit. What’s not to like? Buying a few sessions with a personal trainer or trying a new workout class may be just what you need to feel the self-love.
