The Best Way to Get the Most Out Of Personal Development
Personal development starts with understanding your habits, way of thinking or your internal dialog and attitude. All of these things have been developed over time. They could have been developed during adolescents, teenage years or young adult hood. They could also stem from past family structure. Ask yourself what are the circumstances you`ve have been exposed to via family, parents, teachers, mentors and friends. The thought patterns from those circumstances have an effect on the way you live at this very moment. If you aren’t aware of these you could be sabotaging yourself given that those circumstances were negative.
“I’ve found that there are 2 reasons why people fail”
1. The people you surround yourself with
Spend time with people who are like-minded. If you hang around folks who talk bad behind people, talk negative all the time, not ambitious, don’t be surprised if that energy rubs off on you. Surround yourself with people who are go getters, doers, motivators or people who are willing to lend helping hand. Being among like minded people will help you to have a better attitude, feel better about yourself, keep you grounded and focused and it`ll help keep you in line with your dreams and goals.
2. The thoughts that occupy your mind
We all have a loop that plays in our minds daily. This loops can run all day and for some of us all night as well. A loop is similar to a group of songs playing on your ipod one after another consistently. That loop is self-talk or thoughts. At this very moment stop to think what your loop is. Is it a angry loop, calm, negative, frustrated, positive or peaceful? Be careful with self-talk or thoughts as they do tend to work their way into your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind does play apart in your daily life.
Do you have angry, upset, frustrated or positive, peaceful thoughts? Before you go to bed at night think about the thoughts that are looping in your mind. Remember, your subconscious mind doesn’t shut off while you sleep. So whatever plays in your mind just before you go to bed will be embedded in your subconscious mind while you sleep. Going to bed with negative thoughts will have a impact on your actions the following day or week. Going to bed with positive thoughts will have an impact on the following day or week as well. Take note of this and tell me what you come up with.
What are some things that you could use to help change your thought process at night or during the day?
1. Watching the news or reading the newspaper can be negative at times. Instead read one of your favorite books, listen to soothing music, Meditate or take a walk outside to clear your mind.
2. Talking to people who like to gossip or complain a lot can be a distract and can add negative energy to your mind. Instead talk to people who are excited about life or people who are optimistic.
Everyone is different, and there is no “one road” to achieving personal development. It is highly important to learn as much as you can and practice awareness so that you can find ways to develop yourself.
Another way to look at personal development is to figure out what is getting in the way between your success and you. Could it be lack of motivation? Lack of confidence? Fear? These things have proven to be a huge obstacle for most of us. Even so, identifying personal weak points is a critical initial step in order for them to be dealt with. If you get rid of the things that might stand in your way, you can find the way to clear your path.
Use your time efficiently so you can get more done in a shorter amount of time. The best way to do that is to take breaks more often. This might seem counter-intuitive at first, but taking more breaks actually gives your mind a chance to recover, which improves concentration .
Record your ideas or thoughts by carrying a small notepad when your out or at home. Making quick notes about things that may inspire you will help jog your memory and add to the potential that you will later incorporate into a thoughtful creative process or new healthy habit.
In order to gain the most benefit from the points mentioned above, you have to start implementing them. No one can be successful without trying. If you take the time and energy to apply the information you are sure to see great strides being made towards developing yourself into who you want to be.
